More like a fun appliance
I wouldn't so much call this a toy as a fun appliance. I use mine quite a bit at home and when I'm out. I haven't tried crushing ice with it, so I can't advise there. I not only use it for mixing drinks (shakes, etc.)It's useful for beating eggs, whipping cream, just about any thing you use a blender for. It's got a real impressive 23:1 gear ratio (blades go around 23 times for each turn of the crank). Best of all: No cord and no batteries!

Bayou Classic 1118 32-Quart Stainless Steel Turkey Fryer

My only regret is not getting this one first
If you're thinking of buying aluminum because it's cheaper, think again. This stainless steel pot will last longer, be MUCH easier to clean and will not retain seafood odor, nor will aluminum leach into your food.

The included basket fits like a glove (unlike my King Kooker aluminum pot, which sold the basket separately), and can also function as a steamer. The rack fits right into the basket for easy storage. I only regret that I bought the other pot first because it was cheaper, but certainly not a better value!

Perfect for turkey, prime rib, or sea food!
This stainless steel cookpot is sturdy, well constructed, and easy to clean. It also comes with a boil basked and a turkey rack. The boil basked could not be better constructed. It fits right inside the cookpot and rests on an internal rim so the base is not sitting on the bottom of the fryer. This allows more even boiling, but you have to remember that you're going to lose the top few inches of space in the basked so be careful not to over fill. I purchased this item in concert with the Bayou Classic SP10 High-Pressure Outdoor Gas Cooker and it couldn't be a better match. Since this is a 32 quart cook pot it won't fit on most cookers that are specifically designed for 30qt pots, so a cooker with a flat burner area is essential.

We broke the cookpot in with a crab boil. Fill the pot with water to the max fill line. Add a couple of packages of Zatarain's Crab Boil, about 3 tablespoons of Old Bay Seasoning, and a couple of onions peeled and halved. Load your basked...

Very Nice Pot!!
This is a great pot. It comes with a thermometer, triangle hook, the mount for the turkey and a tall basket for frying seafood, etc. I like it because it's sturdy stainless steel and cooked my turkey very well and evenly. No problems at all.

The book says to cook no more than 18 lbs but my turkey was 20 lbs and just the right size. I wouldn't go over 20 lbs. There is also a pre-marked line on the pot that lets you know how much oil you're supposed to pour in. It's very handy and was exactly the amount needed for my 20 lb turkey, even though I did do my own measuring just to make sure.

I used the pot the day before cooking to brine my turkey and it came out flavored beautiful and was very tasty. I covered the turkey with water, added 2 cups of sea salt, a few bay leaves, rosemary sprigs, fresh lemon thyme, whole peppercorns and a half cup of apple cider vinegar. I let it marinade for 4 hours. Just make sure that the turkey is thoroughly dried with paper towels...

Shun 22-Slot Bamboo Knife Storage Block

Better than Henckels Twin 22 slot
I couldn't decide if this block or the Henckels 22 slot would hold my 2 long 11" Victorinox bread knives, 2 Wusthoff Santokus, and 2 small Chicago Cutlery Santokus plus a couple other knives. I ordered them both and compared them side by side. The back corner of the Henckels is "blocked" so it sits 1" closer to the back wall on the counter than this block. However, I found the Shun bamboo wood block more aesthetically appealing and a nicer finish than the Henckels block. Also, the BIG difference is in the width of the knife slots. This block consistently for just about all slots was wider by 1/8" to 1/4" than the Henckels. For me, this small increase in width made the difference in getting all my knives in the block or not. If you have serious knives, then most of them are probably wide, and need this block. If your knives are narrow then the Henckels block would work fine. Both blocks were identical heighth. Nice block but slots too narrow
I recently bought a Kramer knife that is 2 3/8" wide at the handle. I was hoping, partly based on the reviews, that this block would accommodate it -- in addition to my cleaver. No such luck -- the slots other than the cleaver slot are only about 2 1/8" wide. If your knives fit in this dimension, it's a very nice block, but I wish the descriptions would give the slot widths.

salton Hot Spot set: Coffee & Hot Beverage Warmer

Coffee Stays the Perfect Temp
I work in an office and rely on a warmer to keep my coffee warm enough to avoid reheating or dumping it out. Whenever I finally get back to my desk I know my coffee will be waiting and will be the perfect temp. I have tried numerous brands that do not get hot enough but the Salton brand does the trick and has been the best thus far. I bought extra for our office employees as well. Alton's Angles by Shun Angled 5 1/2 Inch Santoku Knife

KNIFE NOT AS SHOWN
The knife I received is not the knife shown on Amazon.
It is a very nice Shun knife, but it is not an Alton's Angles
knife. The knife shown on Amazon had Alton Brown's logo on it, this one does not. I bought this gift as a birthday present for my husband who is a huge fan of Alton Brown's. I was told by customer service the Alton's Angles knife is not available anymore. If so, Amazon should not show his image on it.

After having my first microwave for about 18 years, it finally died and I did a lot of research before deciding to buy this Panasonic. Having Amazon gift certificates, free shipping and a $25 kitchen and housewares discount influenced my decision and I have to say it was a great buy. I'm very pleased with the evenness with which it cooks and defrosts.

I upgraded from a mid-size 650-watt oven to this full-size 1250-watt oven. I have to remind myself sometimes that everything needs less time to cook. However, there are a lot of pre-programmed features in this unit that make it easier. For example, there is a sensor cook button that selects the time and power level for different kinds of foods depending on how many times you tap the button. Types of food include baked potatoes, frozen pizza, frozen entrees, fresh vegetables, frozen vegetables and omelettes. I made a baked potato last night that was cooked perfectly. Pretty good, some minor flaws (failed after 3 years)

We've had this microwave for a couple of months now, so I can't comment on its long-term reliability.

Good:

Mostly, it's been fine. It meets my primary requirement for a microwave, which is that you can put food into it, press 3 0 START, and it cooks for 30 seconds at full power. (It's amazing how many microwaves fail that test, requiring some other key before the time. Easy enough if you know how to use it, but not for visitors.)

It can do relatively complex sequences like:
- Wait 5 minutes (to line up completion time with other foods)
- Cook 4 minutes
- Wait 20 seconds (to give me time to stir)
- Cook 3 minutes
- Wait 2 minutes (post-cook "let stand" time)

It'll prompt you through most operations, though ... the ... prompting ... is ... kind ... of ... tedious.

The Sensor Reheat feature seems to do a pretty good job of warming food up to a good serving temperature. It...

Fantastic
I have always been partial to Panasonic microwaves and this is one of the best. It has had constant daily use for over two months now with an excellent performance record.

In fact, I have only used my stove and oven twice since this purchase (for a large frozen pizza). The sensors are very accurate - oatmeal is perfect. With two frozen dinners, I had to add additional time, but everything else has cooked, reheated or thawed as expected.

Earlier reviews mentioned resetting the clock and a loud beep. Panasonic must have listened to their customers as neither problem appears to be present on this model.

With 1250 watts, it does reheat more quickly than older models so I would suggest reducing the time until you get used to your new microwave.

UPDATE - 10/21/2008 - In December it will be two years - still perfect!

Noritake Fitzgerald 5-Piece Place Setting

Love this pattern!
The green marble is classic elegance. The gold accents add a touch of flair without being over-bearing. This setting pairs nicely with other gold accented tableware, especially stemware and flatware. I never tire of this pattern. It is timeless and classic.

Noritake Aegean Mist 5-Piece Place Setting

Classic, Elegant & Practical
We registered for this pattern for our wedding and even 5 years later I think that it is beautiful. We used it today for Thanksgiving and it reminded me of how elegant, yet practical it is. This pattern will never be out-dated and integrates with many seasonal pieces as well. This is a wonderful investment and I recommend it highly.

Great china
My husband and I registered for this pattern as our wedding china (in 2006). We love it - the matted gray accent color is attractive without looking to masculine or feminine. I'm even considering painting our dining room to coordinate with the dishes. The cost is must more reasonable than other china brands like Wedgwood.

Fifth Avenue Crystal Portico Sugar & Creamer

Pretty thing
I got 2 sets from Amazon Warehouse. One set has a small tiny serving spoon and the other does not. They look nice and sparkly on display and are stackable: a great feature according to positive comments from my visitors. I put sugar on the bottom and fill the tops with choices of artificial sweeteners. The top looks like it has a metal knob in the picture ad but it's just plain glass, no metal. Quite functional.

Very pretty. I wouldn't recommend carrying them from place to place stacked. I wish the sugar container had a little lip in the lid for a tiny spoon but overall I'm happy with it.

Gerber LMF II ASEK, Tan Handle, ComboEdge, Nylon Sheath 1400

Top Quality and Very Capable
I have finally found my Survival Knife. I have purchased several other "quality" knives whose features have in one way or another not been satisfactory. The Gerber is great. Size, weight, and construction are perfect for me. Excellent sheath design that allows for quick one-hand deployment.( doesn't have to be snapped in.) I like it enough that I have bought the black one and green one as well!

Practical
I am not sure what to do with the safety tool, maybe give it to a fireman or EMT that could use it. I was pleasantly surprised with the sheath. There are an amazing number of carry options and I love the built in sharpener idea. That being said, I removed the scabbard from the webbing and attached only that to my pack straps. I was pleased to have that option as well. I bought another one for my nephew to take hunting as I was so impressed with the quality for the price. I also liked the shorter blade length.

Worth the money for intended uses
Overall this knife is a great outdoor and survival knife. The materials seem to be fine and the design is truly functional. Definitely a great knife to own for backpacking, hunting, or survival situations.

36x60 SOLID WOOD TABLE

Excellent All Wood Table (No Particle Board)
First of all, the packing was unbelievably good. A large outer box surrounded the inner box with blown-in foam all in-between. It took longer to get it out of the packaging than it did to fasten the four legs to the table. But one thing for sure, it will survive the shipping process. I was trying to be cautious when tightening the bolts to the Pem nut inserts in the legs, but on one leg, I heard the dreaded pop sound. But even though the Pem nut lost some anchoring, it still managed to hold reasonably tight. The table surface is somewhat of a butcher block design. The table top is not as polished as implicated in the photograph, but still smooth. There was a thin layer of oil and dirt that easily wiped off. I put some furniture polish on afterwards.

The table dimensions listed here on Amazon are incorrect, especially the table height. The height is close to 29 inches, fairly standard and certainly not 37 inches as listed. I wrote to the seller twice and each time...

Mainly seconding the other reviewer -- I, too, was worried about the supposed 37" height, but trusted the review and indeed it did arrive at a normal dining-room-table height of roughly 29". Looks good, feels solid, good buy.

DINING TABLE 30"x48"

An Excellent Value
We purchased this table alongside the matching chairs from Visiondecor and we couldn't be happier. This is an excellent value, ideal for a smaller dining area (such as ours). The table and chairs feature an authentic Queen Anne design that fit very well with our decor. For the price, however, we were very impressed with the quality. We were initially concerned that the price was too good to be true but I'm happy to report that this is a high quality purchase. Both the chairs and the table are very sturdy and look beautiful. Customer service was also superb. I highly recommend this item and the seller. Well done!

AWESOME TABLE
First off I have to say that when I received this table it was packaged extrememly well..so well that the hardest part of putting it together was just getting it out of the box! Went together very easy, this table is extremely beautiful, very nice cherry wood color and the finish makes it look very elegant. When I tell people how much I paid they don't believe me. I love Queen Anne style furniture and this table is the perfect size for my small family. Thanks VisonDecor!

Table is nice, but broken
Received the table, and really like it, but one side was cracked during the manufacturing process. Don't know if machines put in the screws or people, but one side was split right where the screw joins the side to the top.

Very heavy for me--and don't feel like the hassle of returning it. I like it otherwise.

Nachtmann Aspen Crystal Double Old Fashioned/Whiskey Tumblers, Set of 6

Arrived in beautiful, powdered crystalline form.
The glasses look great and have a wonderful, solid, feel to them. Unfortunately, they weren't so solid as to make it through the shipping process. They came with one measly A4 letter-sized sheet of bubble wrap to cushion them on their shipping route. I'm having them replaced and hoping they come in unbroken this time around.

Giving five stars for the glasses: they're wonderful.

The packaging, however, sucks; be prepared to return them, as another reviewer has had the same issue.

The glasses look and feel very good. I couldn't believe the first packages had NO packing materials at all. Only the thin cardboard box. The glasses were all broken. Replacements arrived in one day and were properly packaged.

Absolutely STUNNING crystal candelabra.
I just received one, out of the two I ordered as of today.

This piece (candelabra) is absolutely a stunning, shimmering work of art for your table. The word candle holder truly should not be used in the description. This piece abounds with sleek contemporary clean, clear cut statuesque lines, of shimmering crystal. I really wasn't sure what to expect quality wise, due to the low price. I was aw struck, when I pulled out of the box. This candelabra is as stated 11" high at center point, with a total arm span of 5 1/2" Now I was concerned, that this might be rather on the small side, compared to other candelabras. This is not the case at all. This candelabra may only be 11" tall and 5 1/2" wide. However, its sleek clean lines, make this candelabra size, nothing less then perfect. My dining room table is black marble, and seats 12-14. These candelabras, are now the stunning focal point of my entire dinning room. Please don't pass this item up, if your looking for a set, or...

Very wonderful piece to make a gorgeous table
I am a first time buyer of anything this grand, however, splurged on two of these for our table. Purchased with a 4-for-3 promotion while they were out of stock and received exactly a month later. Candleholder is beautiful and simple, which appealed to me. I was worried it would be less substantial, but they are wonderful and quite heavy. For my needs it is perfect and I am thrilled to put it on the table during a romantic dinner or when company is coming over. Using just one of my dining room table makes me feel decadent. I was nervous buying something I considered expensive considering all the cheaper options that looked similar, but am VERY glad I jumped on these as I will keep them forever, and have faith they will last that long.

Chairs are very attractive and sturdier than any of the parson style chairs that I looked at in stores. Don't let the "red" scare you - they are more tan than red.

Parson chairs
I received these chairs about 2 days, after I ordered them. They were nicely packaged. They didn't have all of that white foam, that flies all over the place, as most things are packaged, but they were packed very secure. All of the tools that were needed came with the package. I had a little bit of trouble connecting the seat to the back of the chair, but I finally got it put together. I have arthrits in my fingers, and it is hard, for me to do things, with my fingers. It would be a breeze for someone who didn't have that problem, to put these together. They are of good quality. The legs are also covered with the same fabric, as the chair. They are very comfortable. They look very nice. I am happy with them.

Solid quality
I have the whiskey glasses form the same manufactuere and like them a lot.. Tried the high ball ones this time.

They are solid make, so would not break easily... Unlike by reed and barton, soho which would break easily on contact with other glass (mostly in kitchen sink during the parties)

Peacock!!!
I replaced my everyday dinnerware with Fiestaware last year and am very happy with it. Shamrock & Scarlet are my least favorite, though I am thinking of getting more place settings of each and using them just during the holidays. When I saw the Peacock color the other day I couldn't resist buying it and what a wonderful color it is. The picture does not do it justice at all. Tangerine and Persimmon were my favorites, but not any more!

How to care for your cast iron Dutch Oven
There is more than 1 seller with this at Amazon, a search led me to another page with the same oven for substantially less, but it changes often. Dutch ovens are a classic and versatile cooking tool that is used by cooks and outdoor enthusiasts of all kinds. There are several companies that still make cast-iron, and this model is made for one of the biggest groups of users, the Boy scouts, with the scout logo on the lid. My review is mostly limited to the outdoor uses, but I use one in my home oven as well. This model measures 12 inches in diameter at the top with a depth of 3. 75 inches, 6 quarts. It has the tripod legs and a recessed lid best suited for cooking in coals. Be aware that those legs make it harder to use in a conventional oven, you need to maneuver the legs if possible into your grill rack. They cast-iron manufacturers make a legless version with the domed lid for a home oven, and I have used it in a fire as well. On this 3 legged model, you can use the lid as a skillet...

nothing like lodge
I have quite a bit of cast iron--most of it off brand and I can tell you that from now on I will only buy lodge. We really like this dutch oven. We camp as scouts and as a family and plan on handing this down when we are too weak to pick it up. It sure is heavy. There is a difference in quality with lodge.

Second Oven
Wife say's "we need a second oven".
If you've heard that recently, then consider this cast iron camp oven (smaller and larger available). It works in the oven, over a camp fire, with hot coals under and on top and in my case inside my "Big Green Egg" barbecue. I'm a baker and I've got a great, easy to make bread that bakes to perfection in the camp oven.

Lid fits tighter than Staub oven
I first bought a Staub 2-qt oven to make one pot meals. The lid has three raised bumps around the lip of the lid. Too much steam escapes and the upper layer of vegetables dried out. This Le Creuset lid sits perfectly flat and less moisture escapes. A very good product for my application.

Small family cooking
This French Oven is perfect for cooking soups,stews, etouffe,etc., for small families. If you are cooking a larger dinner, eg., beans, this little oven is great for cooking the rice.

Great Little Oven
Perfect size when making a meal for two... no leftovers. The pot fits perfectly over the smaller burner and still delivers the famously big flavor of Le Creuset. Color is bright and fun.

Furi Cutlery FX 10-Inch Coppertail Cook's Knife

Excellent Knife
I purchased this knife not from Amazon but directly from the company. It's sharp and it stays that way. I keep a honing steel handy but I seldom use it with this knife. The slightly narrower blade allows you work the knife easily into tight working areas allowing you to surgically dissect a chicken in almost no time. It is also very well balanced. I haven't had the need to file down the copper end yet but I believe that some people will find it quite useful. About my only con with this knife is that the copper is quite hard to keep shining brightly.

Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron 3-1/2-Quart Round French Oven, Kiwi

This is an excellent all around item for stews, soups and long-cooking dishes.
Although this color is now no longer available, the kiwi will go well with other
current colors available in Le Creuset. The enamel cleans easily and food cooks

Great soup pot
I had to buy a new Le Crueset soup pot and decided on this fun lime color. Everybody knows Le Crueset means quality but if you buy from Amazon, you get free shipping and the price is better than anywhere else. I highly recommend this.

rough edges

Le Creuset 2-3/4-Quart Soup Pot, Kiwi

Coolest green pot!
We've benn collecting Le Creuset cookware for years and without a doubt this is our favorite pot of all. It's the perfect size for 2 people and the round bottom is great if you want to start out sauteeing. And that kiwi green couldn't get any happier!

Good things in small packages
I own this in Flame, and use it all the time - in fact, there's a chicken pot pie in the oven as I type. It's lightweight compared to the 5 - 9 Quart French ovens, so it's more maneuverable on the stove top and in the oven, which I appreciate. Its smaller capacity and tapered shape is perfect for 3-person curries, large side dishes, soups and sauces. I also really like it as a vessel for chilling and serving pasta salad and cole slaw.

Though it's an authentic piece of Le Creuset, this item is no longer on their USA website; the larger, 4.25 Quart soup pot is the only size listed. Amazon has slowly phased out several of the colors in the past few months - so if you're interested in an agile, affordable cast iron gem, act soon!

Great Size and Color
This pan is nice when cooking for one or two. I also like its shape, and often use it to bake nice round breads with a no-knead bread recipe that calls for using heavy Le Creuset pans or similar.

Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron 5-Quart Buffet Casserole, Kiwi

Our Best Pan
I bought this casserole last year after debating over all of the Le Creuset pots and casseroles on which one would be the most versatile - and believe me, this casserole is the one! It handles any kind of stovetop cooking with ease (it's a FABULOUS risotto pan) and it goes into the oven with no problems, lid or no lid. It also serves as a beautiful pan to bring to the table but be sure to put something under it to protect your table surface because this pan is cast iron and retains heat very well. It is incredibly heavy but it's performance easily makes up for that. Be sure to follow the manufacturer insrtuctions (hand wash and dry immediately, no metal utensils, and no harsh scrubbing) and your pan will certainly become your new favorite piece of cookware you own.

The usual wonderful Le Creuset quality, but HEAVIER than most
A great pan, as usual with Le Creuset, but VERY HEAVY. Our household is used to Le Creuset (the 7-quart round is probably our most-used size), but this 5-quart and it's lid are deemed extraordinarily heavy. We use it, and we're glad to have it, but wouldn't recommend it for weaklings.

A favorite pan. Absolutely great.
I bought the very wide 5 quart size with some trepidation, since we usually cook just for the two of us. To my surprise we use it all the time. Even cooking for two, very often you'd like to be able to cook something in a single layer in the pan. For instance, in this wide pan you can braise an entire bunch of asparagus spread out in one layer. The iron conducts the heat out to the edges. Perfect.

Our kitchen is black, white and stainless, like many. If yours is like that I highly recommend the Flame color. I thought it might be too strong and it's not. It's warm and happy. This was our first Le Creuset pan and we have continued with that color.

As for the pan being heavy, I'm not sure it is heavier than a big round casserole, but it is less stable to carry because it is wider and shallower. If you have it full of a stew, yes, you might want to plate that dish from the stove :-) I also carry the lid separately if at all.

Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron 7-1/4-Quart Round French Oven, Kiwi

LOVE IT!
I keep this on my stove 24/7 because it's a great item to showcase (bc of its color) and because I use it so much. I always wanted a Le Creuset and never splurged on one ... until finally, I bit the bullet and it was NOT a sour or jagged pill! This thing is amazing, the capacity of this one (7 1/4 Qt) is more than enough for my size of stews, roasted meats, soups, etc. It cleans up great (I hand wash mine with just soap and water - no need for scurbbing forever or soaking) - no chipping of enamle paint and no burning or discoloration to the bottom of it (inside or out). Now ... to buy more (bc you can't have just 1, right? why else would they come out with so many great colors!?)!

I love it! I have had a smaller pan for 25 yeats I had a 6 qt is great but I wanted a larger size. I love the Kiwi color.

Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron 9-1/2-Quart Oval French Oven, Kiwi

I love this French oven!
I was very hesitant to purchase this 9.5 quart oven -- even if it was at a reduced, open box price. When it arrived, I just let it sit out on my table for a few days thinking I would return it - $235 is a lot of money! After reading and re-reading reviews on this - I went ahead and used it. Since then, I have made French onion soup, stews, roasted meats, doughnuts, etc, subjecting it to high stove top and oven temps. Not a problem with the heat -- the interior and exterior pot and lid remains pristine. It is easy to clean and very durable. The lid fits tight -- there is nothing not to like in my opinion. Yes, it is HUGE and HEAVY and that is exactly what appeals to me. It's made in France (wish it was the USA, but oh well...) I have no regrets having bought this and would recommend it to others.

My Favorite Pan
THIS IS BY FAR MY FAVORITE KITCHEN PAN.
~It is used for so many meals, from cooking eggs, sauces, roasting pan for meats, cooking down greens, heating tortillas, etc. We use it almost daily, as it seems to be the perfect size for most of our meals.
~I have used it for just over one year and it still look awesome. It cleans super easy.
~It is a bit heavy, so if you have a far amount of weakness in your hands or arms, you may not appreciate it as much.
~Heats excellently on my induction stove top.
~Guests have said they really love the kiwi color.

Great all purpose pan
I purchased this product in Kiwi to complement my 7 qt Dutch Oven pot. I've had it for about two weeks and it has quickly become my everyday, go-to pan. It is wonderful for browning meat and is better than my non-stick skillets for creating sauces with the browned meat bits. It's also wonderful for recipes that say to use an ovenproof skillet. I can fit four regular sized chicken breasts or two large steaks in the pan at one time. If you are weary about the kiwi color, it is definitely more of a lime green than the yellowish-green that online pictures show. It looks great on the stove with my sage-colored kitchen walls.

The Most Used Cooking Vessel in My Kitchen
This was the first Le Creuset item I owned. While my collection has grown to include a french oven, skillet, and grill pan, this buffet casserole remains the most used. It is perfect for one-pot meals (rice pilafs, quinoa and beans, etc), roasted veggies, and any small to mid-sized recipe requiring a transition from stove top to oven (pasta bakes, etc). It also goes from being cookware to a serving dish gorgeously.

Having used this for over 5 years, some careless moments have left a few small patches of discoloration on the cream enamel inside. However, it doesn't impede the cooking process or results at all. I use only silicone and bamboo tools when using my Le Creuset to preserve the integrity of the enamel.

I would highly recommend the buffet casserole to anyone looking to try Le Creuset for the first time. It's a very versatile size, and will give a great introduction to cooking with enameled cast iron.

Emile Henry Flame Top 5-1/2-Quart Round Oven, Black

Perfect
I love this pot! I received it as a gift from my father who uses his for soups and stews several times a week. I have used mine for meat & veg dishes started on the stove top for browning, and then finished low and slow in the oven. The meat turns out incredibly moist, and the entire dish cooks up perfectly with very little effort. It is also one of the easiest pieces I own to clean.
The one important piece of advice I would give, don't skip the seasoning step. This seals the clay so that it doesn't absorb flavors and odors. Perfect. I truly can not find one fault in this piece of cookware.

AMAZING!
We've been cooking like crazy with this great pot - both on the gas stove and in the oven - and everything has turned out brilliantly: coq au vin, Hungarian gulyas, chicken paprikas etc. I will be ordering more items from this producer soon, for sure!

Emile Henry 5 1/2 qt.
This pot is exactly what I needed. As recommended in the book, MY BREAD by Jim Lahey, it is the perfect pot for baking his recipes. It is light weight compared to other pots in it's class and although a bit pricey, well worth the money. It cleans up beautifully and is pretty enough to leave out in the kitchen.

Riedel O Chardonnay Wine Tumblers, Set of 2

Nice Tumbler for Wine, but a Little too Big
This is a nice wine glass in tumbler form. It also works great for single malt scotch! The glass feels a little fragile (even by wine glass standards), but after almost two months I haven't broke one yet. My only gripe is that the tumbler is a bit big and awkward in my hand. That is a pretty picky comment, but it is a little too big.

PITCHER REPLACEMENT CARTRIDGE

I have a Brita water pitcher and replacement cartridges are not available in the stores. I have ordered from a company in Canada but it takes almost 5 weeks to receive it. The Culligan cartridges are exactly the same and I received the cartridges in no time! Hooray for Amazon!

The filter works and fits great but it takes a while before it becomes tasteless. Dont give up! keep running water through it!

These filters are good. They arived in gud condition. I've used these filters b4 and they work fine. I found these items 2 be cheap on Amazon. so I bought them. But what I over looked was the shippin charge. It would've saved me atleast $4 if I'd have brought them in shoprite or anyother store. Presto 07045 Family-Size Cool-Touch Tilt'N Drain Electric Griddle

Good, but could be better.
I purchased this griddle intending to use it to cook pancakes, bacon, and to heat torillas.
First of all, the aluminum surface of the griddle is not as thick as I was expecting. I haven't measured it, but I'd estimate it's between 1/8" and 3/16" thick across most of the surface. As such, it does warp under high heat. It was set on top of my smooth top range (range was off and cold, of course!) and when I turned it past 450 degrees, I found that one of the 4 legs would be off the surface. There is a raised lip around the outer edge which would prevent liquids (pancake batter, beaten egg, etc) from spilling off. This is useful and well executed.
Previous reviews noted that your pancakes can come out "striped" due to the heating element. I underestimated this. Though made of aluminum, there definitely are vast differences in heat from one area of the griddle to another. I think this griddle would perform much better if the heating element covered more of the surface of...

Big with nice tilt feature
Having gone through several electric griddles over the years this one is the pick of the litter. The tilt feature is nice to keep your bacon from deep frying in its own grease and makes clean up easier. The size is great since you can actually feed a crowd (thats why you bought it right?). There are some hot spots as usual with this type of item but nothing real serious. I would recommend this item if you want to cook up a pound of bacon at a time, a mess of pancakes or 6 grilled cheese sandwiches.

Big Disappointment
I ABSOLUTELY HATE THIS GRIDDLE. We bought oversize to make more pancakes and thought the cool-touch edge was a great idea. The Tilt'N Drain sounds great, but a mere bump of the cool-touch edge and the griddle falls into the drain position. Not what you're looking for when pouring pancakes. First of all, it still only accommodates five normal size pancakes (four corners and one in the middle). The surface is not level, and all the pancakes run towards the center giving them a distinctive oval shape. The biggest disappointment is the heating element. I purposely pour the center one first, and the one closest to the heating source last. Despite my efforts the one closest to the heating element source turns dark brown in no time flat, and the one in the center is barely ready to flip. End result...I'm shopping for a new griddle.

Works pretty well
It does chill the bottle faster than putting it in the freezer, but it takes a little longer than 5 minutes, more like 10. It slips easily around every wine bottle I have used it on.

Great for baby bottles & sippy cups!!
Though I haven't tried this with wine yet, this is a great product to keep your baby's bottle or sippy cup cool in the summer, without taking up a lot of space in the diaper bag. It could also be used to keep breast milk chilled. So much better than bulky ice packs--and it covers more of the bottle's surface area too. It doesn't leave any wet condensation on your diaper bag contents. No zippers to open; you can quickly slide the bottle in and out of the sleeve without taking it out of the bag. Great for mom & dad's water bottles too!

I purchased a few of these chillers as gifts for friends over the holidays. All of them say these chillers are fantastic. Very easy to use. Perform as advertised. Now, it's time to buy a few for myself!

8 Count Bounty Paper Towel in White

They Work Well.
Each roll has sixty sheets & are about eleven inches square. The roll is the same standard length as other brands & should fit most dispensers. These towels are absorbent, strong, & soft. They tear off straight on the perforations, without ripping across the middle. They almost feel like dusting clothes & can easily be used as a napkin in a pinch. The main test came when I washed my car windows. They really sopped up the film that often accumulates from the windshield wiper fluid after a long period without rain or having been car washed. Overall a good value since most other brands rip & fall apart so easily.

the "quicker picker upper" strikes again !!!
Bounty isn't called "the quicker picker upper" for nothing. These paper towels are remarkably strong and durable. Just one sheet can more than soak up a spill; and even if the spill is large you almost certainly won't need to use more than two or three sheets at the very most.

These paper towels are remarkably soft for all their durability and strength. Although these are paper towels, you can use them as heavy duty tissues--and they can also serve as dinner napkins if company comes on short notice--just fold them very neatly into triangles. Nobody minds.

Bounty paper towels can also be used to dry off pots and pans after they've been scrubbed. Bounty will not leave lint on glassware, windows or even your silverware. Excellent!

Overall, Bounty paper towels may cost a bit more but they are well worth every penny you pay for them. I find them to be indispensable in my home for numerous uses that go well beyond absorbing spills.

Metrokane Houdini Wine and Beverage Chiller, Black

Newer not necessarily better.
I purchased these about a year ago to replace some older wraps that I had used for years that were starting to fall apart. Unfortunately, they don't perform nearly as well as my old ones did as they warm up twice as fast. They certainly look better, but after 30 minutes or so at room temperature they pretty much have lost their chilling ability.

Keep your wine cool on the patio
My only wish is that Amazon had more than just grey. Store in the freezer, pull it out and wrap your wine - ready to serve chilled in minutes, even if the wine was at room temperature. I have too - if we are using it more than an hour, I switch them.

A life saver
I live in a City with most of the year over 95F/35C. It is difficult enjoying a good red when your bottle gets warm after a few minutes it leaves the cooler. This item was my solution, as it is easy to use and keeps your bottle at a good drinking temperature during 45 minutes aprox.

Black Cast Iron Tea Set Dragonfly #ts4/07

Good Rikyu set, excellent craftsmanship
First off, quality and craftsmanship. This tea set purports to be functional; it is. It also purports to be beautiful; in the sense of Shibui (or Shibumi if you can grasp the concept), it is. By its very nature of being sold as such, it implies to be well made enough to support its function; in this it excels. If treated properly and not misused (do not heat these directly), it will last.

This set makes roughly 20 ounces, which is a decent amount: 3 6oz cups of tea or 5 of the 4oz cups that come with it. For one or two people, this is perfect; tea takes minutes to brew. For larger parties, you will want a deeper 30oz set. Somehow I seem to have gotten ... quite a bit in here, though. Which I'll have to investigate.

It comes with a basket infuser that fits inside the lip. This infuser lifts out after the tea is brewed. To make tea, first fill the tetsubin with hot (perhaps boiling) water and let sit for 2-3 minutes. Then empty and add some more hot...

Good product for the money
You can go out and spend a lot more from places like Teavana, but this set has been great for the two months we have had it so far. It has an enamel coating inside so there is no rusting. The only thing I could say in a slight negative way is the strainer seems to be coming apart already but not enough worry for me to rate this product below a five star. I recommend people trying out the herbal tea's. Its very relaxing and its so much fun trying out the new tea's.

Emile Henry 614553 Flame Top 5-1/2-Quart Round Stewpot, Red

Surpassed my expectations-a wonderful Dutch Oven
I researched Dutch Ovens on-line and in several cookware shops. Looked at Le Crueset, Staub, and Emile Henry. With some hesitation I ordered this one from Amazon. I did not believe that a ceramic one would really brown ingredients well the way that braises require. Believe me, it does an excellent job on meat, poultry, and vegetables. I have made Beef Bourguignon and Coq a Vin so far. The pot is a joy to use, the shape and size is perfect, food does not stick or burn as it is cooking, and after cooling and a brief soaking it cleans beautifully. This Dutch Oven is not light weight but is is much lighter than the cast iron ones and I do not need to worry potential rusting or enamel chipping in the future. I expect that you do need to be more careful to avoid sudden temperature changes such as putting a really hot pot on a cold counter. Note that the first one I ordered was not packed well and arrived broken in many pieces. Amazon promptly and courteously sent a new one and a postage...

Need for No Knead
As with another reviewer, I also primarily use this for no knead bread, although I have a few old cast-iron dutch oven recipes I am aching to try. I bought this primarily because someone who borrowed my dutch oven failed to clean it properly, and it rusted. I am now in better financial shape and appreciate great kitchen items, so I decided to splurge. I was looking at the Le Creuset line when I came across this beauty. At the same time I was getting into bread baking and I discovered the no-knead method outlined by Jim Lahey in his wonderful book "My Bread". In the book he recommends several options, but the biggest problem with using most enamel covered cast iron pots is that you have to remove the handle, or you risk damaging it during the high temperature baking (475-500F). There were two models I found that would not have this problem. The first was the Kitchenaid cast-iron/enamel with the silicone handle. That is a tough one to find. The second is this beauty. It performs excellently, is much lighter and easier to handle than an equivalent iron pot, cleans like a dream, and I am looking forward to cooking with it as well.
